Chris Parker, the Director of Photography, started working on Circle Track Summer in April of 2004. After graduation from The University of Akron he decided that his love of filmmaking and video had begun to outweigh his desire to work in the applied arts. So, after a long talk with his family in March, he decided to take on this project as, basically, a full time job. He is a resident of the Akron area and hopes that one day this movie may be seen as an inspiration to other local filmmakers and actors.
“I told myself early on that this project was bigger than just Fool’s Gold Entertainment or the individuals involved in its production. It’s a stepping stone and an example to all filmmakers within the community. It will, one day, show aspiring artists what can be done on very little money with tons of desire, will, and most importantly – commitment to craft.”
His first love in movies was Star Wars. As a 5 year old it was the first live-action movie he had seen in a movie theatre. He grew up in Las Vegas, NV with a single mother who worked incredibly hard to raise him and took him to the movies, what seemed like, twice a week. As he grew older he became fascinated with the works of directors Stanley Kubrick, Bernardo Bertolucci, Terrance Malick and Martin Scorsese.
“From the first time that I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey I knew that making movies was what I wanted to do. The primitive man throwing the leg bone in the air and transitioning into the satellite in outer-space is an image that has been etched in my mind for the past 20 years.” Chris Parker owns and operates his own production company in Akron called Stepping Stone Productions and specializes in helping independent filmmakers achieve high quality and affordable digital video production solutions. |
